| Please keep in mind, the large volume of email, phone calls, and promotional material received by Nyabinghi greatly exceeds the amount of time and space available for booking, As a result, we cannot offer every performer a gig. Additionally, we must take into consideration the tastes of our audience which further limits to whom we off stage time. So please, if we do not show interest in your band, or say "no thank you" do not take it personally, it is not necessarily a comment on your talent. |
.Wondering what to send? If all you have is a cassette or CD, that with a short note indicating ideally when you would like to play, that will do. If you also have a bio/photo/video/site/etc. feel free to send those, the more information, the easier it will be to get an idea of what you do. Please keep in mind, that we cannot return promo materials. |
| Ideally, booking is done via email. Send us your website link, which contains both music, and a press photo. Promo photos need to be at least 150dpi, and at least 5" x 7" |
Q: I gave you CD almost two months ago, and have never been called back.
A: Was there a phone number on the CD/Cassette (not on the case). If so, we almost never call back - you need to call us. |
| So you got a gig, now what? Promote, Promote, Promote! The more people that you tell about your show, the more people that will show up (duh!) Flyering is important (please, no illegal flyering!) and the media can be useful also, If you need a media list, just ask. Internet promotion is key also - get a website, and get an email list started, you'll be surprised at just how effective this can be. |
Q: How much do we get paid? And how come you won't book our band?
A: Every band is booked on an individual basis. some guarantees and some door/percentage deals. The key factor in compensation is how well you draw (i.e. your crowd). If 3 people come to see your band, expect to get paid accordingly. Realistically there are 2 ways to play here: 1: If you suck, the only way you'll get a gig is because some local band put you on the bill with them (this happens sometimes.); or if you draw lotsa people, it's ok for your band to suck, we got morals, but we're not idiots (welp not all the time..) 2: If you are in a good band (yes, it's only an opinion, but our opinion is always right) we will gladly book you. If your band plays Rap Core, Nu-Metal, or Funk Metal please look at option 1. |
